Zion Stone Church History

The original structure was built out of stone hauled in from Peters Mountain.  It is believed that the original congregation was meeting at Funk’s school for several years before construction was started on the building of a new church.  In 1842, church services were moved from Funk’s school to the present building.  Today the building houses the sanctuary, and in 1976, a wing was added to accompany a growing congregation.

As for the cemetery, a plot of ground was donated by Henry Rouch to be used as a burial place and today is know as Stone Cemetery.
